Today there was 16 cranes in view from our survey vantage point outside the Gibson hotel.  We are continuing our monitoring survey on behalf of  Bennett Construction on the area of ground west of the Gibson Hotel.  Using our TS15i with a Rothbucher prism and resumption point system.  The city seems to be growing again.  It is being watered by money from investors hungry to take advantage of a booming market.

So what you can see is the Capital Dock buildings being built by Sisk for developers Kennedy Wilson.  This is a set of office and apartment buildings on the confluence of the Liffey and Grand Canal.

The building to the right and across the Liffey is the new central bank building being built by Walls.  The completed project will stand at over 8 storeys tall and will have a total area of approximately 29,000m2.

Rothbucher Systeme Resumption Point

David Whelan Enterprises was tasked with monitoring ground movements on the new Point Campus Student Accommodation site for Bennett Construction through Environmental Measurements and Walmac.

We worked along with engineering consultancy Arup and project managers KSN Project Management to keep disturbance of existing business surrounding the site to a minimum.

We installed 16 Monitoring studs to measure movement in level and 2 prisms.  The prisms were installed using the Rothbucher resumption point and rotatable prism system.

Instruments used:

Leica TS15i 1″ robotic total station.

NA2 Level with parallel plate micrometer.

This was a monitoring job for PJ Edwards.  Our task was to carry out survey monitoring of Pile caps along the river Liffey and canal sides of Capital Dock Development, Dublin.  This was an interesting and sometimes arduous task due to on-going demolition.
